As far as crème brulee’s taste is concerned, it can differ from person to person. The traditional ingredients of crème Brulee are milk, eggs, cream, sugar, and vanilla, sometimes flavored with lemon or cinnamon. 

As a result, most traditional crème brulees consisted of rich vanilla custard with caramelized sugar toppings.

Vanilla and caramel are the best flavors to pair with it. The crème Brulee recipe has developed a variety of variations in recent years incorporating coffee, heavy cream, butterscotch, etc.

How to Make Crème Brulee?

The preparation and cooking will take about thirty minutes, and the setting and chilling will take two hours.

For making crème Brulee, you’ll need to follow a set of systematic steps, in addition to the time factor. Here are the steps:

Tempering the eggs:  The egg must be handled carefully while making crème Brulee, as it may curdle if exposed to heat.

The eggs must therefore be slowly tempered (tampering is a special method of cooking).

To make it work, you’ll need to gradually raise the temperature of the eggs while constantly mixing them. That way, you won’t have curdled eggs.

You can also strain the mixture to achieve a smooth consistency if this process does not succeed and you still end up with a curdled egg.

Choosing the right ramekins:  A Ramekin is a small, ceramic bowl used for serving custard and other desserts.

They come in a variety of sizes. 4-6 ounces would be the right size Ramekin for the classic Crème Brulee.

Water Bath process:  Slow and even cooking is possible with the water bath process. In a pan, place a thin towel on top of the ramekin containing the mixture.

In the next step, you can pour hot water into the pan until it reaches about half the ramekin. To prevent water from entering, you can even wrap the ramekin in tinfoil.

This can be cooked between 275-335 degrees for about 40 – 50 minutes. Add warm water as needed to maintain the water level.

As soon as the crème Brulee is done cooking, you can remove it from the pan and place the ramekins in the refrigerator for about two hours.

Adding sugar on top of the chilled crème Brulee and torching it until it turns golden brown is the torching process.
